SplitRig: dual camera app for iPhone SplitRig

Privacy Policy for SplitRig

Effective Date: February 15, 2026
Last Updated: July 8, 2026

SplitRig ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the SplitRig iOS application (the "App").

1. Our "User-First" Data Philosophy

Your data belongs to you. SplitRig does not collect, sell, or rent your personal information, video feeds, or sensor data to third parties. Our architecture is designed to prioritize your privacy by processing sensitive information locally on your device whenever possible.

2. Information We Access (Permissions)

To provide the full SplitRig experience, including real-time widgets and streaming capabilities, the App requests access to:

  • Camera & Microphone: To capture video/audio and analyze acoustic levels (dB) for on-screen widgets.
  • Location Services (GPS & Compass): To calculate and display real-time speed, altitude, distance, and movement paths.
  • Motion & Fitness: To improve speedometer accuracy when stationary using device motion data.
  • Photo Library (Add-only): So SplitRig can save your recordings to Photos. We never read your existing library.

Live streaming uses your device's regular internet connection (WiFi or cellular). It does not require any additional permission.

3. Data Processing & Collection

  • Local Processing: Sensitive telemetry (Location and Motion) is processed locally on your device to power on-screen widgets. We do not store this raw sensor data on our infrastructure.
  • Streaming Data: When you go live, your video and audio travel directly from your device to the platform you chose (for example YouTube or Twitch). Your stream never passes through SplitRig servers, because SplitRig does not operate any servers. We cannot see, record, store, or analyze your stream content.

4. Live Streaming Accounts (Sign-in, Tokens & Stream Keys)

To let you go live, SplitRig can connect to your accounts on streaming platforms. Here is exactly how that works:

  • Sign-in happens on the platform's own page, inside a private system browser sheet provided by iOS. SplitRig never sees, reads, or stores your password.
  • Everything stays on your device. The sign-in tokens and stream keys that platforms provide are stored only in your iPhone's Keychain. They are never sent to us and never leave your device except to talk to the platform itself.
  • YouTube: SplitRig uses YouTube API Services to start and manage your YouTube live streams and to show your live chat while you stream. By connecting a YouTube account you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke SplitRig's access at any time from your Google security settings or by disconnecting YouTube inside SplitRig.
  • What we show, we do not keep. Information fetched from a platform (such as chat messages or your channel name) is displayed on your screen only. It is not stored after your stream ends, not shared with anyone, and not used for any other purpose.
  • Disconnecting is complete. Removing a platform in SplitRig's settings deletes its tokens and keys from your device.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Streaming Platforms: Once your data reaches a third-party platform (YouTube, Twitch, etc.), it is governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • Zero Third-Party Tracking: This version of SplitRig does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs (such as Google AdMob or Firebase).

6. Children's Privacy

SplitRig does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not store personal data on servers, we are compliant with standard children's privacy regulations.

7. Your Rights & Data Control

You have 100% control over the App's permissions (Camera, Microphone, Location, Motion, Photos) via the iOS Settings app at any time. Connected streaming accounts can be removed inside SplitRig whenever you like, and platform access can also be revoked from the platform's own security settings. Because we do not maintain persistent user accounts or store your personal data on any server, there is no personal information for us to delete or export.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
