Snapchat Dual Camera on Android or an Older iPhone (2026)

Snapchat's Dual Camera is real, but it needs iPhone XS or later and reportedly hasn't shipped on Android, and the video stays inside Snapchat. Here is how to record a dual-camera video you own and can save straight to Photos.

En bref

Snapchat's Dual Camera records the front and rear cameras at once with four layouts, but it needs iPhone XS or later, reportedly hasn't shipped on Android, and the video lives inside Snapchat. To record a dual-camera video you own on any iPhone from iPhone 11 to iPhone 17 Pro, saved straight to your Photos with no Snapchat account, record it with SplitRig: free, no ads.

The short answer

Snapchat's Dual Camera (added 2022) records the front and rear cameras at the same time, with four layouts (Vertical, Horizontal, Picture-in-Picture, and Cutout). Two things trip people up: it needs an iPhone XS or later, and on Android it reportedly hasn't shipped. On unsupported models the menu option simply does not appear. The result is born inside Snapchat, so you export it to Memories to keep the clip.

Why it isn't showing up for you

If Dual Camera is missing from your Snapchat, the usual reasons are simple: your iPhone is older than iPhone XS, you are on Android where it reportedly isn't available yet, or the app needs an update. Nothing is broken on your end.

Record a dual-camera video you own, on any iPhone 11 to 17: SplitRig

SplitRig records the front and rear cameras into one video saved straight to your Photos, so you own it and can post it anywhere or just keep it, no Snapchat account needed. It is 100% free, no ads, on every iPhone from iPhone 11 to iPhone 17 Pro. (SplitRig is an iPhone app and needs iPhone 11 or later; if your iPhone is older, DoubleTake is the older-iOS route.)

  • Four layouts, switchable mid-shot: Picture-in-Picture, Split Screen, Face Mode (background removal, no green screen), and Single.
  • One synced Full HD 1080p file in your Photos, ready for Snapchat Spotlight, TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
  • Live overlays and hands-free control: bake in GPS speed and distance, and start or stop from an Apple Watch or your AirPods.
  • No ads, no account. The small SplitRig logo turns off free in one tap.
