General & Setup
How do I use the GPS and Speedometer widgets?
Enable Location Services for SplitRig in your iOS Settings. For the most accurate telemetry, ensure you have a clear view of the sky. The same permission powers the Distance, Altitude, Pace, and Goal Gauge widgets.
How do I enable the live overlay widgets?
Open SplitRig and tap the widget picker in the control tray. Choose any combination of Speedometer, Distance, Duration, Altitude, Pace, Goal Gauge, Sound Level, or Watermark. Your selection is composited directly into the recording.
Is my data stored or shared?
No. SplitRig is a "client-side" application. Your video, audio, and location are processed locally in real-time. We never see or store your data on our servers. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
Recording & Features
What is 'Action Cam' mode?
Action Cam is a specialized mode optimized for high-intensity movement (snowboarding, cycling, driving). It utilizes specific lens configurations and stabilization to provide the smoothest possible dual-camera footage for action-heavy sessions.
How does the Chroma Key (Facemask) work?
SplitRig can automatically remove the background from your front-facing camera feed in real-time. This allows you to "overlay" your face directly onto the rear-camera footage, perfect for "React" style videos or high-action vlogs where you want to stay in the frame without blocking the view.
Can I customize the layout?
Yes! You can choose between Split Screen and Picture-in-Picture (PiP). In PiP mode, you can drag to move and pinch to resize the window anywhere on the screen during your recording.
What other data can I display?
We are constantly expanding our Widget Library. Currently, you can display Speedometer, Distance, Duration, Altitude, Pace, Goal Gauge, Sound Level, and SplitRig Watermark — all draggable, resizable, and baked into the recording. More widgets are in development.
Performance & Hardware
My phone is getting warm. Is this normal?
Yes. Processing two high-definition 1080p camera feeds simultaneously is incredibly resource-intensive. SplitRig is specifically optimized for the latest iPhone architecture to maximize performance, but if the device gets too hot, we recommend: enabling Eco Mode to dim the screen while recording, removing your phone case to allow for better heat dissipation, and avoiding recording in direct, intense sunlight for long periods.
Is SplitRig a medical or professional navigation device?
No. All widgets (Speed, Distance, Altitude, Pace, Sound Level, etc.) are informational estimates provided for entertainment purposes only. SplitRig should not be used for medical monitoring or as a primary navigational tool.

When will RTMP streaming be available?
We are currently finalizing our pro-grade streaming engine. Soon, you will be able to broadcast your dual-camera rig — complete with widgets and interactive overlays — directly to YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. Stay tuned!
